When the basic scheme does not cover the cost of a non-professional accident, the accident insurance comes into play. It also serves as supplemental accident insurance for any accident covered by UNSMIS.

This coverage can be particularly useful for international civil servants whose basic scheme excludes them from benefits. This is particularly the case for accidents resulting from the practice of high-risk sports, which are not covered by the basic scheme.

The following benefits can be selected individually:

  • Unlimited treatment costs for 5 years after the accident;
  • Lump-sum disability benefit of up to CHF 1 million following an accident;
  • lump-sum death benefit of up to CHF 1 million following an accident.

The premium for death/disability coverage is 0.06% of the insured amount, and the premium for medical treatment costs is CHF 120 per year.
